This is a problem with our existing data sets. Humans create the sets of data that are used by these AIs, which allows even unconscious biases to be carried over to the AIs. We need to diversify the populations that are represented in these data sets, but that's easy to say harder to do apparently.

Listening to RNZ's interview with Ms Goodyear-Smith re health system inequities. She rightly praises Pharmac... and I can't help but wonder how much drugs cost the system vs. software (diagnostic, admin, management, data, etc.) & why we aren't procuring software in a similar way and *creating generics* (via open source software) that leverages the scale of our national system. Rather than the piecemeal, divided & conquered we have now with proprietary sw benefiting corpations, not people..
